If you are not a software developer but you are interested in the philosophy of free software, you still have a good opportunity to contribute to the community by writing documentation or proofreading previously written documents.
We need volunteers to write free documentation for the software we wrote but also for other software of interest in education and teaching.
The following is a nonexhaustive list of where we need volunteers:
Documentation for Dr. Geo, see DrGeoDocumentation. There are two categories of jobs:
Documentation for GCompris, see GcomprisDocumentation. The job consists of writing a user manual fitting the teachers' requirements and vocabulary. Bruno Coudoin is a computer science guy and he's missing the specific vocabulary used in education.
Translating the Freeduc-cd manual in various languages. See DocFreeduc or FreeducTranslation to work on updating the documents from the Wiki.
Easy GIMP lessons to manage selections, layers, masks and colors (french only)

Writing end-user documentation of software distributed within Freeduc-cd.
If you want to volunteer, join the appropriate mailing list for a project, or directly contact hilaire AT ofset.org.
